Inquest Into Death Of Amy Winehouse Could Be Declared Illegal
An inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse could be declared illegal after rules were broken in appointing coroners.
The inquest (recorded in late 2011) said that Winehouse had died as a result of "misadventure" and was led by Inner North London Coroner Dr Andrew Scott Reid.
While conducting the case, Reid made his wife Suzanne Greenaway the Assistant Deputy Coroner. However, Greenaway said she resigned in November after it was discovered she did not match the requirements that go with the appointment of coroners. Greenaway could only have been appointed if she had been in the Law Society as a solicitor for at least five years. She joined two-and-a-half years ago. She also does not have five years as a "qualified medical practitioner".
This means that each of the 30 inquests she was a part of could be deemed illegal, but would have to be challenged in high court for that to happen.
Reid said: "In November it became apparent I'd made an error in the appointment process. While I am confident that all of the inquests handled were done so correctly, I apologise if this matter causes distress."

Neil Young Says Steve Jobs Would Have Helped Preserved The Sound Quality Of Vinyl
Neil Young says that the late Steve jobs would have helped preserve the sound quality of vinyl.
He said that he wanted to save the quality of music recordings as digital downloads were "degrading" the standard of audio.
He said: "My goal is to try and rescue the art form that I've been practicing for the past 50 years. We live in a digital age and, unfortunately, it's degrading our music, not improving it."
About Jobs, he added: "Steve Jobs [was] a pioneer of digital music, and his legacy is tremendous. But when he went home, he listened to vinyl. And you've got to believe that if he'd lived long enough, he would have done what I'm trying to do."
Finally, he complained about music downloads. He said: "It's not that digital is bad or inferior, it's that the way it's being used isn't doing justice to the art… The convenience of the digital age has forced people to choose between quality and convenience, but they shouldn't have to make that choice."

Steve Perry Says Journey Doesn't Need To Be In The Hall Of Fame
Steve Perry, former lead singer for Journey says the band doesn't need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He said: "I think that, honestly, Journey doesn't need to be in the Hall of Fame. With everything we accomplished … we've had our Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you know? It's in the hearts of the people out there and their experiences and their memories of what we did together and how we all had the time of our lives with the music that we loved to perform and they loved to hear. I really don't want someone to qualify it any more than that."
Perry split with Journey after hip problems caused him to stop touring in the 1990s. He said he is ready to record again when he finishes a new studio in his California home, but there is no timetable for his first new material since 1998. He added: "I don't want it to have pressure, because I'll worry about it sucking, and then what am I gonna do? I've got all this pressure … that I just don't want on me, so I've allowed myself the ability to sketch and write as I go, and I'll do it at my own pace."
He says the new home studio will have a control room and "a tracking room about the size of Motown. … I'm finishing that room up and I've written a whole bunch of ideas and directions, all over the map, in the last two, three years. So I'm plan on getting in the studio at some point and start trying to track these things and see where they go."
About touring, he said: "I'm no spring chicken. The same arthritis that ate up my left hip that finally got replaced hasn't stopped there … and touring is a lot of work. I'm impressed when I see people like Eric Clapton out there. Gee whiz, Eric, give me a break! It's amazing. I know it's gotta hurt somewhere."
Perry also said there wasn't any plans for him to reunite with Journey, even though co-founding guitarist Neal Schon asked him to come back. He said: "That's a kind invitation, but I respectfully decline. But I want you to know this: I just spent the last three months listening very closely to the new Journey Greatest Hits 2 and the first Journey Greatest Hits: Every single one of those tracks is a magical moment in time. … Still are and will always be forever timeless. And there's one more thing everyone should know, I will never stop believing in all the original and amazing music we created together."

Ringo Starr Says He Will Never Write an Autobiography
Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr says he will never write his autobiography. He made this comment during a Sirius XM Los Angeles radio interview with actor Russell Brand. Below are the highlights of his interview:
On how publishers are only interested in his time with the Beatles: "I've been asked to write an autobiography of myself, but they really only want those eight years... And I say, 'But there are 10 volumes before we get to that, and 20 afterwards.'"
On the 43rd anniversary of The Beatles' final live show in London: "The police came to stop us, and I was on the roof: 'Come on, drag me off!' It would be so dramatic, and the damn cop wouldn't drag me off!"
On living in the digital age: "I love the modern technology now. I was a little opposed to it – 'Oh, in my day, we used to have a donkey turning the wheel, and two guys chewing tape to make it soft.'"
Ringo Starr's new album, Ringo 2012 was recently released.

Selena Gomez Says She is in Love With Justin Bieber
Selena Gomez recently spoke about being in love with Justin Bieber, here are the highlights…
On Being In Love: "I'm just like every 19-year-old girl. If you're in love, you're in love to the fullest, and you just want to go to the movies, hang out, and be as normal as possible. I'm fortunate that I've found someone who has that philosophy … [Love] is the most powerful thing. When it comes to my family, friends, a relationship … it centers me. You only live once, and I want to be proud of everything that I do and just have fun. I want to be able to say that I had a really fulfilled, fun life."
On a Previous Relationship: "I was in a relationship previously where I had to hide everything and it wasn't my choice. I had to go through different exits and take separate cars and do the craziest things, and it just really wasn't worth it. It was like a year of my life completely wasted."

Grammy Producer Ken Ehrlich Talks Adele, Paul McCartney And Boycotts
Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich talked with Billboard about Adele, Paul McCartney and whether or not there will actually be boycotts. He says there will be a "major interesting" announcement on Thursday.
The ceremony takes place February 12 at 8 PM on CBS. Ehrlich says that it will have 17 or 18 production pieces for 22 songs being performed. He called it "arguably it's one of the biggest shows" in the history of the Grammys.
On planning the show in the next few weeks: "We might have another two or three things. Barring the unseen, I think we're done. There's one thing hanging out there, but usually by now we're done. But you never know."
On having duets at the Grammys: "What I've always tried to do is raise the bar - Prince and Beyonce, honoring the Clash with Bruce Springsteen. Our calling card has been you have to watch because there are performances you have not seen before. Point of fact, my first show was with Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand doing 'You Don't Bring Me Flowers' live for the first time. What really got us doing those things was when Neil (Portnow) arrived and he said we should do more of them. Because the show is at the end of the awards cycle, it's not about putting people on who you've seen elsewhere."
On Adele: "We are in discussions with Adele and we're hoping her first appearance will be on the Grammys."
On whether or not the consolidation of categories affected who gets booked for performances: "Personally I miss a broader palette but it has not really affected us. I was concerned with regard to the mainstream categories combining male and female into performance. I like the broadest canvas possible because when I put on a show, I believe the more the merrier. So some people not nominated will be on the show."
On the possibility of boycotts and if anyone has said they would not appear: "No not one. That brings up a good point. Paul Simon is a good friend of mine and he made a brilliant album and, as a fan, I think he deserved (a nomination). I'm disappointed, but I don't think the reduction in categories had anything to do with him not getting nominated."
On the presentation of the December show: "We finally found our place. We struggled for a couple of years. It felt unwieldy in Nokia Theatre and then we moved it but it was way too big for the club. After three years, we said we need to give it it's own life. We needed to mirror the February show so we put in one of the Grammy Hall of Fame songs, "The Message," for a segment and the response was great. Nick Ashford and Jerry Lieber had just passed away and I thought that once we got to February we wouldn't be able to what we could do (in December) with Usher and their songwriting partners (Valerie Simpson and Mike Stoller). We had Gaga, Jason Aldean - it was a miniaturized Grammy show. We read off five categories -- that was enough. It's Paul Revere (saying) it's Grammy season."
On the importance of entertaining the crowd: "To me it has to be better than the TV show. From the first day I started, and I guess I'm antiquated, if the show is good in the house the viewer experiences that. I don't care what the size of your screen is or whatever point-one your surround system is or if you have 3D. If Mick Jagger lights up that audience, that goes into peoples' homes. That's the joy of creating this and adding the layer of TV."
On if anything will be like the black and white Bruno Mars performance last year: "There are four numbers this year that will probably affect the live audience that are done with the TV audience in mind. Paul McCartney's singing his new song 'My Valentine' that he wrote for his new wife. It's exquisite. You hear 'Yesterday' in it vocally - that's what the song is. I thought single camera will make this better. I want to shoot from a perspective that harkens back to a classic look, when there were only three networks and when color TV was new. Number one, it fits the song and two it adds impact to the song. It's a chance to do something I can't do with Nicki Minaj."
Flavor Flav Says His Daughter Did Not Beat Him Up
Flavor Flav says that while his daughter was arrested over the weekend, she did not lay a hand on him. Flav says that the whole situation was a family dispute that got out of hand. When police arrived, Flav tried to stop them from arresting daughter Dazayna Drayton, but Nevada law required police to hook anyone up who allegedly strikes a family member. Flav made the following comments on the situation…
"The whole thing was a big misunderstanding that shouldn't have happened. No one in my family called the cops on my daughter and she did not beat me up. I love my daughter and will never let anything happen that could come between us."

Adele Set to Perform at the Grammys
Adele is set to perform on February 12th at the Grammys. This will be her first time on stage since she had surgery to remove a polyp on her vocal cords in November. The singer commented on the honor, stating the following…
"I'm immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year's Grammy Awards. It's an absolute honor to be included in such a night, and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-wracking, but what a way to get back into it all."
She joins Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, the Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Paul McCartney, Bruno Mars and Glen Campbell with The Band Perry and Blake Shelton as a performer on the show.

Rihanna Spends Big Money on Marilyn Monroe Portrait
Rihanna has bought a new Marilyn Monroe portrait for almost $160,000. The pop star purchased the painting, which is five square feet and made with 65,000 Swarovski crystals for about £100,000.
The portrait reportedly changes color constantly and "sends rainbows of light round the room." It was made by artist Claire Milner in her studio on Yorkshire over a four-month period. Milner commented on it, saying that "I tried to show the glitter of the public life and then the sadness in Marilyn's eyes."
She also said that the whole thing was done through Rihanna's interior decorators and that they "told me afterwards that she loved it."

Jennifer Lopez Refusing to Discuss Divorce in Public Anymore
Jennifer Lopez says that she's no longer going to talk about her divorce from Marc Anthony in public. Lopez appeared on Today this morning and said that she was done, preferring to let her article in Vanity Fair from August do the talking for her.
"Everything I wanted to say about the divorce I said in that article," she said. "And Marc and I agreed that we're not gonna talk about it publicly again because it really is our personal lives. We have children and it's something that we just have to respect and keep sacred. It's not the easiest thing in the world but we handled it with a lot of grace, a lot of caring and a lot of love."
The two are working together on their reality show Q'Viva - The Chosen still. "Marc and I were friends before we got married," she said. "We were friends for years, and we always loved each other. And we always worked together, so it wasn't an unnatural thing for us to continue working together... It's really a passion project for us. Even though it has its difficult moments, it's still a great thing that we're doing, that we feel that we're doing. We have our moments, we're human, but, at the end of the day, there is real love there and there is a family there, and that comes first."

Rolling Stones Urinals Draw Complaints From Women
The mouth-shaped urinals in a Rolling Stones museum in Germany are under fire after several woman have complained that they're demeaning. TMZ (which has pics) reports that the urinals, which are based on the Stones' famous mouth logo, has drawn twelve complaints calling for their removal and the reason seems to be the lack of the tongue depicted in the image.
"If it had been based on the emblem of the Stones with the tongue, it would have been OK," said one woman. "But the tongue's been left out and they really look like women's mouths." The urinals have been controversial for a long time, with Virgin Airlines planning to have two installed at JFK Airport in New York in 2004 before scrapping the plans. Whether they are actually modeled directly after the logo has never been cleared up.
The museum owner says he won't remove the urinals, noting, "They were damned expensive and they're staying where they are … That's final."

Britney Spears and Nicole Scheringer to Guest on will.i.am's #willpower
will.i.am says that he's line up a hefty guest lineup for his upcoming album. The Black Eyed Peas frontman told CapitolFM that he has a guest set that includes Britney Spears, LMFAO, Alicia Keys, Swedish House Mafia and Shakira. They join Jennifer Lopez as Mick Jagger previously-announced collaborators, the latter two appearing on the first single "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)."
"I have a song with Alicia Keys - me, Alicia and Swedish House Mafia," Will said. "I have a song with The Beats, which is pretty grand. Me and Shakira have been trying to finish the stuff we started, and me and Britney is really crazy," he said. "We got a song with me, LFMAO and Eva Simons. A song with me and Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beats. I got a whole other bunch of collaborations."
He also noted that the album will "encouragement for those who need it. It was all a dream when I was 15 years old - 20 years later I managed to take the dream from an idea to physicality," he explained, hoping he can share the inspiration." The album has no official release date yet, though "T.H.E." will drop February 5th.

Madonna's first single off her upcoming album is set for a three-tier release over four days. The singer's label has announced that she will spread out the release of "Give Me All Your Luvin" off MDNA between February 2nd, 3rd and 5th.

Idol Producer Trying to Get Barack Obama/Al Green Duet on the Show
American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe is trying to bring President Barack Obama onto the show to do a duet with Al Green. Lythgoe reportedly loved Obama's brief rendition of Green's "Let's Stay Together" at the Apollo Theater earlier this month and is keen to get the two together on the show. Lythgoe tweeted Obama today:
We loved your vocal performance so much we'd love to invite you on to American Idol this Season for a duet with Al Green.

Elton John Takes a Shot at Madonna's Super Bowl Halftime Show
The war between Madonna and Elton John continues. After John's husband ranted about Madonna following the Queen of Pop's Golden Globe win for Best Original Song, John himself has taken to a slam regarding Madonna's planned Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Elton was interviewed by Chris Connolly for ABC, as he will be starring in a commercial alongside X Factor winner Melanie Amaro. When asked what he would say to Madonna before the show, Elton replied, "Make sure you lip-sync good."
