Feb 10, 2010 -- 9:36pm

Been a while since I've shared some good new tunes with ya, well I'm gettin back to it with 4 really good ones you can hear on the Wolf NOW!!! Call in and request YOUR favorite!!

Colt Ford featuring Jamey Johnson - "Cold Beer" - Colt Ford is country musics' version of rap music T-Pain or Akon, this guy collaborates with everyone, from John Michael Montgomery, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Joe Nicholas  and Jamey Johnson... Cold Beer will for sure kick down the doors for some fun, feel good music... I'd like to see Colt and Josh Thompson team up, I need to text Josh and see.....

TelluRide- "Stay" - John had these guys in studio and all we can say is WOW!! GREAT harmonies together, and what a good, rockin country song.  Though these guys aren't on a "major" record label, I'd say watch out in the next few years, and you can say ya heard'em FIRST on the New 96.1 the Wolf!!

Matt Stillwell- "Dirt Road Dancing" - This is the second single out from newcomer Matt Stillwell, and it certainly is a rockin country Wolfie hit!! Makes ya wanna get on your 4-wheeler or in the truck and roll out on the ridge with a cooler of cold ones and do some of that Dirt Road Dancing!!

Kenny Chesney- "Ain't Back Yet" - Kenny has a weird way of takin time "off" doesn't he?  We don't mind it either! Kenny went in and dropped this tune and it is gonna be released on his Greatest Hits 2-Deluxe Edition.  Kenny is rockin out, leavin the beach behind in this one, Sammy Hagar would be proud!  I'd say another top 5, if not number 1 for Mr. Blue Chair Bay(hey, thats a mention, can I get a free pair of pants?)

November 16

Nov 17, 2009 -- 8:42pm

Each week, I'll do a review of 5 hot new songs that you will hear on the New 96.1 The Wolf!! There'a a LOT of good music coming out! It's gonna be a FUN job listening to & breaking down each song....feel free to e-mail some songs YOU think I should take a listen to!!  Check out these reviews!

Keith Urban - "Til Summer Comes Around"

The latest single from Keith is certainly a song that makes ya sit back and remember how those summer days were spent.  It seems that just when summer begins, it ends, but don't worry, it'll come back around!! This song kind of reminds you of Danny and Sandy from the movie "Grease" don't it?  A song that is gonna help us all make it through the cold, winer months ahead, something to look forward to huh?  BIG hit here for Keith

Rodney Atkins - "Chasin' Girls"

What a way to sum up how a lot of the "ladies man" from back in the day used to live, and then gets married and has little girls of his own?  From the days of chasing girls on the playground, to the night clubs, back to the playgrounds, this song is the meaning of "full circle".  Rodney has a hit on his hands with this one.

Jessica Harp - "A Woman Needs"

The 2nd single from former member of The Wreckers, "A Woman Needs" showcases Jessica's ability to write some strong songs.  Jessica is for sure what an artist needs to be, she can sing, play guitar, put on a show and is a very good song writer.  A big reason I picked this song, not just because it is a good one, but it was co-writen by Pinch, WV VERY OWN, and Keith Urban band member, Jerry Flowers!!

Jack Ingram Featuring Patty Griffin - "Seeing Stars"

Jacks follow up to "Barefoot & Crazy", Jack tones it down with a song fit for the fall/winter months.  With the help of Patty Griffin, the vocals for this song is a must listen. I have always been a hugh fan of Jack, and this song could certainly become one of his biggest radio hits.  Take a listen and relax!

Josh Turner - "Why Don't We Just Dance"

A very nice, up-tempo song that Josh sings directly to his wife on!  Always a treat hearing his deep bass-baritone voice on any song, but this one really sounds great! This song is for sure a feel good song, kind of reminds ya of a Conway Twitty  or Mel McDaniel song.  The last up-tempo song Josh had out, "Firecracker" went to #2 on the charts, I look for this one to go up near there.

Nov 09, 2009 -- 2:01pm
Montgomery Gentry – “Oughta Be More Songs About That” - What a PERFECT song for the times we are living in right NOW!  The way this nation has ended up bein is way far away from what our founding fathers had in mind I am sure of.  The line about how Wall Street broke the man who worked hard all his life, and he can’t afford to die, this is so sad and true.  This song is true-blue, American living, Montgomery Gentry, the way it SHOULD BE! Take a listen to this song, and you tell me this song isn’t true, your gonna look at the way you live your life.  Eddies vocals in this song really ring true. Another GREAT hit for the boys from Kentucky!!

Trent Tomlinson – “Angels Like Her” - One of those songs that I’m sure many of us can say we have lived.  Who hasn’t had one of those nights that ya just thought you could drink away after you’ve been in love and just knew you lost everything?  This song was originally on Trent’s’ “Country Is My Rock” album, but they are releasing it as a new single for him, which is LONG over-due!  A good, soul/country sound, Trent co-wrote this song with Parkersburg, WV VERY OWN Arlos Smith and they sure knew how to bring it all together.  Love the steel guitar sound, just what country music needs today!  Look for Trent to take this one to the bank, and yes Arlos, some mailbox money for you, sir!

Toby Keith – “Cryin for Me(Wayman’s Song)” - How true is this?  How many times have we lost a loved one, and we just sat there and couldn’t stop cryin, not for the person we lost, but for us. Knowing that the person is in another place that is way better than where we are.  A song that one can listen to and remember the good times with that person, and know that one-day, you’ll see them.  Love the sax sound Toby put in this one.  Toby really drops the “tough guy” persona in this, and wrote it for a very dear, close friend of his, Wayman Tisdale, who lost his battle with cancer.  In one of the rare occasions that Keith abandons his typical macho swagger to expose himself in a more vulnerable way, we are privileged to experience a sensitive performance for a departed friend, as he acknowledges the truth that accompanies death for all of us.

Hank Williams Jr. featuring The Grascals – “All the Roads” - A nice tune with a sound that I love and miss on the radio, bluegrass!  Hank Jr. enlisted the help of the Grascals to make this upbeat tune about leaving ones heart open for love sound great!  Its good to have Hank Jr back on the radio with a new sound.  In the end of this song, it paid off leavin his heart open, cause she comes back!  Always good to know Hank Jr. is doin what he knows, havin fun!

Williams Riley – “Country Livin” - Newcomers Williams Riley knows how to pen the way REAL “Country Livin” is meant to be.  What its all about is the attitude of a person, its not the boots, hat, fried chicken, grits, gravy, its that southern drawl and how country boys know how to have a good time!  That’s what women, love about country livin!  Good rockin tune, look forward to seein these guys live in concert.

Jimmy Wayne(f. Hall&Oates) - "Sara Smile"

When I first heard that "Sara Smile" was being covered by Jimmy Wayne, I thought oh no..... It becomes very iffy when todays artists redo a classic, plan and simple, the original will ALWAYS be the best!  After listening to Jimmys version, I was floored... his vocals are right on and it is a treat to have Hall&Oates sit in on the song.  Look for "Sara Smile" to go back into the Top 10, only this time on the Country charts!!

Chris Young - "The Man I Want To Be"

Can Chris have another hit on his hands? The followup to "Gettin You Home", "The Man I Want Be" will certainly give his fans something to call the Wolf and request!  Chris delivers a beautiful prayer to God to help him become "The Man I Want to Be".....

Billy Currington  - "That's How Country Boys Roll"

This song is already becoming a hit on the Wolf..... A true country boys anthem, Billy sings the story of how all us country boys live life... work work all week til the job gets done, leading to the weekend to have a cold one, yupp, sums it all up for us country boys!! Look for a top 10 hit on this one, great followup selection to "People are Crazy"

Big Kenny - "Long After I'm Gone"

Though this song has been out for a few months, It is just starting to get some steam and listeners are saying YES to Big Kenny.... Not sure if Big&Rich has officially parted ways, but one things for sure for Big Kenny, with a song like this one his hands, he will certainly find the solo path a good path.

Michelle Branch - "Sooner or Later"

Former member of the Wreckers, Michelle is no stranger to the solo career... "Sooner or Later" is a song for all the girls to sing to those guys who left them, and then one day while she is out looking good on the town, he sees just what he missed out on!  This song has a refreshing sound, and Michelle sure knows how to belt out a hit!!
