I was born in Maine and raised around the world as a military brat! We lived on military installations in Scotland, Morroco and Iceland, and spent summers in Europe. When back in the USA, Florida was the homebase. I graduated from Key West High School in the Florida Keys.

The radio career started in the 11th grade at Naval Air Station Keflavik, Iceland. My high school had a program that allowed students to leave school for two hours a day and intern somewhere on the base. I worked in the radio station. My first job was destroying American records and tapes to keep them off the black market. In time, I picked up my own live radio show.

The next several years were busy. We returned stateside I graduated from high school, went to college and broadcast school, got my first paying radio job at the legendary WQAM in Miami, Florida, got my first program director job at WFFG in The Florida Keys. This is where I learned the finer points of rum drinking and Jimmy Buffett music. I spent endlesss hours under palm trees in flip flops sampling fruity drinks and singing Margaritaville.

In the 90's, My Dad retired with 30 plus years in the Navy and settled down with Mom in Vero Beach, Florida. I too left, returning to college and working at WAVW in Vero Beach, Florida. in 1996 when 'consoldation" hit radio, the opportunities dried up and my new bride and I (whom I had met nearly 10 years earlier in The Keys), moved to take over as Program Director of WGNE in Daytona Beach, Florida. Our daughter Sarah was born there. Four years later the station changed format to Spanish.

The day the towers fell, I was pulling out of our driveway heading to Charleston, WV. to take over as Program Director of WKWS. That's a day I'll never forget. A couple of years later our son Steven was born here and the rest is history.
